Independent Fertility Consultation: Understand Your Options Before Making Critical Decisions

Dr. Beatriz Rodríguez, PhD fertility scientist providing independent fertility consultation and IVF second opinion guidance.

When people begin their fertility journey, they quickly realize how complex the field can be. Medical terminology, IVF protocols, genetic testing, lifestyle advice, and conflicting information online can make it difficult to know what truly matters for your situation.

Many patients move forward with treatments without fully understanding the science behind the decisions being made.

An independent fertility consultation can change that.

My consultations are designed to give you access to a fertility scientist acting as your independent scientific advisor, helping you better understand your fertility situation and the options available to you. The goal is simple: help you clearly understand the science behind your case so that every decision you make is informed, intentional, and aligned with the best available evidence.

With more than 15 years of experience in clinical embryology, reproductive genetics, and fertility research, I have worked inside IVF laboratories, academic research centers, and the reproductive genetics industry. This experience allows me to translate complex scientific information into clear guidance that patients can actually use.

For cases where a broader clinical and scientific perspective is valuable, consultations are conducted together with Dr. Diana Valbuena, MD, PhD, allowing a 360° review that integrates both embryology and reproductive medicine.

Together we bring more than 45 years of combined experience in reproductive science and medicine.

Unlike traditional clinic visits, these consultations are designed to focus entirely on your understanding of the science behind your fertility options. We review your medical history, fertility testing, previous treatments, and current strategy to provide an independent, evidence-based assessment of your case.

Patients typically seek consultation for several reasons:

• They are trying to conceive and want to understand the factors that influence fertility before starting treatment.

• They are preparing for IVF or egg freezing and want to optimize their chances of success.

• They are already undergoing treatment but want a second scientific opinion on their current strategy.

• They want a clearer understanding of complex topics such as embryo development, reproductive genetics, implantation, or treatment outcomes.

Every consultation is grounded in a few core principles.

Evidence-based analysis: All insights are grounded in current reproductive science, not opinions or trends.

Independent perspective:The analysis is conducted independently from clinics, focusing only on what the science and available data suggest.

Clarity: Complex fertility science is translated into clear explanations that patients can truly understand.

Empathy: Fertility decisions are deeply personal, and conversations are approached with care, respect, and sensitivity.

Honesty: Science provides powerful guidance, but it also has limits. We communicate both what the evidence supports and what remains uncertain.

Consultations are available in English and Spanish, helping expand access to reliable fertility science for patients around the world.

Depending on where you are in your fertility journey, there are three consultation options available:

  1. The Optimize Your Fertility consultation is designed for individuals or couples who want clear scientific guidance before or at the beginning of their fertility journey. It consists of a one-hour live consultation where we review your situation, discuss the key factors that influence fertility, and provide evidence-based guidance on how to optimize your chances moving forward.

For patients who are already undergoing fertility treatment and would like an independent scientific assessment of their case, there are two ways to receive a Second Opinion, depending on how you prefer to receive information.

  1. Some people prefer to receive a detailed written analysis that they can read and review at their own pace. In this case, the Second Opinion Written Report may be the best fit. After completing an online questionnaire and uploading your medical reports, your case is reviewed in depth and you receive a comprehensive written report outlining the scientific assessment of your case and potential considerations for next steps.

  2. Others prefer to discuss their case directly and ask questions in real time. For those who value a more interactive conversation, the Second Opinion Live Consultation includes a structured process designed to provide a complete understanding of your situation.

First, we begin with a one-hour initial consultation with Dr. Beatriz Rodríguez to fully understand your fertility history, treatments, and goals, and to collect all relevant background information and medical reports. Your case is then reviewed in depth together with Dr. Diana Valbuena, MD, PhD, integrating perspectives from both reproductive medicine and embryology. Finally, we meet again for a one-hour review consultation, where we walk through the findings together, answer your questions, and discuss possible next steps. A detailed written report summarizing the scientific assessment of your case is also provided.

For many patients, the most valuable part of the process is gaining clarity. Fertility treatments involve important decisions, and understanding the science behind those decisions can make the journey feel far less overwhelming.

If you would like to learn more about how these consultations work or how to book one, you can request information by email.

Because each case requires careful review and preparation, the number of consultations available each month is limited.

Your fertility journey deserves decisions guided by science, clarity, and understanding.
